Bridget Jones’s Baby Review

Bridget Jones’s Baby review

It’s been a while since Renee Zellweger’s graced our screens with her romcom ‘Bridget Jones Diary’ back in 2001

Blurb :
At the start of the New Year, 32-year-old Bridget (Renée Zellweger) decides it’s time to take control of her life — and start keeping a diary. Now, the most provocative, erotic and hysterical book on her bedside table is the one she’s writing. With a taste for adventure, and an opinion on every subject – from exercise to men to food to sex and everything in between – she’s turning the page on a whole new life.
My thoughts
Colin Firth and Hugh Grant battle for the heart of Bridge, how could you not like Mr Darcey? The Proper gentleman, I’d say.
If you haven’t seen it.. shame on you pause reading this and get that Chick flick out and get ready for a good giggle!
Film 2

Bridget Jones edge of reason 2004

The sequel to “Bridget Jones’s Diary” finds Bridget (Renée Zellweger) working as a TV host and still dating barrister Mark (Colin Firth). But Bridget is jealous of the time Mark spends with a co-worker (Jacinda Barrett), and, despite a vacation meant to smooth things over, ends their relationship. On assignment in Thailand, she has a dalliance with her disreputable ex, Daniel (Hugh Grant), and is temporarily jailed on the false accusation of drug smuggling, before Mark comes to the rescue.
My thoughts
For a sequel you often think no, please don’t ruin the credit from the first film, but it was so good and detailed with drugs sex and oh gosh prison but who comes to bridges rescue, Mr Darcy?
OMG THERES A 3rd Bridget Jones Baby

Blurb :
Breaking up with Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) leaves Bridget Jones (Renée Zellweger) over 40 and single again. Feeling that she has everything under control, Jones decides to focus on her career as a top news producer. Suddenly, her love life comes back from the dead when she meets a dashing and handsome American named Jack (Patrick Dempsey). Things couldn’t be better until Bridget discovers that she is pregnant. Now, the befuddled mom-to-be must figure out if the proud papa is Mark or Jack?
I have been lucky enough to be invited to a launch of the new Bridget Jones’s Baby newest film!
My thoughts:
When I was contacted to have a launch night of the new Bridget Jones’s with appetisers, main, dessert and a snack to have with the film who could refuse?
I was able to take a plus one, so I took along my sister.
We met in Prezzo for canapé and drinks to chatter with the other bloggers that came along.
I got to meet Greenwich mum you can find here
And Frenchie Mummy you can find here.
There was 6 of use in total.
When you hear starters and drink my first thought is bread cheese and crackers with a glass of wine?
How wrong was I?
Prezzo pulled out the stops and our waitress was lovely!
Detailed food
Four Flatbread 2 3 4Feeling rather stuffed, we made our way next door to Pizza Hut Resturant. Where we were to have our mains. Once seated we ordered our drinks, can I say Pizza Hut do an amazing cream soda, tasted delicious!
As we were chatting, I was waiting for the menu when seven yes seven pizzas arrived. We all looked at each other in shock mainly because we were stuffed from Prezzo.
It was lovely how well looked after we were while still able to talk about what we expected from the 3rd instalment of Bridget Jones.
Some thought that Jones and Darcy were hitched, sadly not.
We made our way to the VIP cinema entrance which had comfy seats and space to move around.
As soon as Bridget appears on the screen cupcake in hand singing happy birthday everyone was on the floor crying with laughter.
I genuinely thought they couldn’t top the second film but wow was I wrong!
The film was fantastic not, and Emma Thompson was enlisted as Bridget Jones’s obstetrician and does she play a bloody brilliant part. I’m Never disappointed when Emma Thompson is in a film.
Once Again you follow the ups and downs of the complicated life that is Bridge and Without giving it all away, you obviously know by the movie title she ends up pregnant and doesn’t know who the father is.
Through the pregnancy, she is finding it hard, and her heart is torn, but deep down you can see who she wants!
You must watch to see if She gets her happy ever after or ends up a single mum.
I would give this a top rating of 5 stars
Thank you for coming back

Rehearsal For Murder Review

Rehearsal For Murder

Starring TV favourites Alex Ferns (Eastenders, Legend ), Susie Amy (Footballers’ Wives, Echo Beach ), Gary Mavers ( Peak Practice, Emmerdale ), Lauren Drummond (Holby City) and Ben Nealon ( Soldier Soldier ). Entertainment icon Anita Harris (Carry On) and 60’s pop legend of Mark Wynter ( Cats, Dreamboats and Petticoats, The Phantom the Opera ).

And directed by Roy Marsden (TV’s Commander Adam Dalgliesh)
Following the phenomenal decade-long success of The Classic Thriller Theatre Company, which sold over two million tickets and continually played to packed houses around the UK, Bill Kenwright presents a new production of one of stage and screen’s all-time classic thrillers, from the pen of the legendary award-winning writing team Levinson and Link, whose work includes the mystery series Murder, She Wrote and Columbo.

Playwright Alex Dennison is left heartbroken when his fiancée and leading lady Monica Welles is found dead from an apparent suicide after the opening night of her stage debut. On the anniversary of that ill-fated night, Alex assembles the same cast and crew in the same theatre, for a reading of his new play. But as the reading begins, it becomes clear that Alex believes that Monica was murdered and his new play is a devious cat-and-mouse chase to uncover her killer…

My Thoughts

I have to admit when I received the invite to attend the rehearsal for murder I made an assumption that I’d not like it. Upper Circle tickets are highest I’ve been to see a production in the orchard. Which made it interesting, seeing the different perspectives.

It started with an empty theatre it was as if we the audience wasn’t there, a man comes into the room the weather was awful, thunder and lightning you really could feel the rumbles.

As the scenes unfolded and the story began to transpire it made you feel like it was real, how it jumped from explaining into the acting scene of what was being spoken about.
Have to say it was very enthralling, and I wanted to know more details, the actors were so good and didn’t miss a beat of the story it was seamless.

Without giving it away, the ending wasn’t what I had thought, usually, with thriller and horror movies I’m fairly good at selecting the baddie of the film. However with This one I was flummoxed and it felt good to have the surprise.

So in summary, not a show I’d usually go to However, I’m glad that did, I pre-judged and thought it was going to be uninteresting and not worth my time!
How wrong was I, if you get the chance to go and see it DO!

*I was given tickets to write an honest review.

Have you been to see that before ? what were your thoughts ?

The Stickman Live September 2016

the stick man live 2

My thoughts

I took Monkey on a little treat to see The Stickman; I thought it was going to be like the Gruffalo!

Tickets printed and a short drive to the Orchard Theatre, I handed my ticket to the usher for seating guidance. We had front row seat, and the monkey was given a booster seat. As we waited for the show to begin,  there was no photography allowed, but I managed to take a shot of the stage set up and a cheeky picture of monkey who wasn’t too thrilled about having to sit in a booster seat,
the stick man live show
As the lights lowered, and the music started, to announce the start of the show which consisted of three actors appeared, two men and a woman. Who all took turns in their different roles and later in the show interacted with each other.
The amateur dramatics put into the stickman was very well presented, the props and the sounds were very pleasing visually. Even down to the snow scene, they even dropped the temperature down, so we felt that chill the stimulating effects were superb and well executed.
Monkey enjoyed waving to the people and making her dog pant noise to show she knows it’s a dog, monkey isn’t verbally communicating just yet ( I will go into this more in a different post )
There was a bit where stickman, the dog, and the dog warden ran out into the audience, this for an older child of 4 or 5 I could see being exciting but a few younger kiddies were crying, and the monkey was a little frightened.
I like how the audience was brought in to engage with the actors and a bit of the old ‘he’s behind you’ Is always fun.
The lighting caught monkey’s eye a few times, and she enjoyed the colour changes of scenes.
Overall, I for some reason expect different outcomes from the theatre and am often guilty of comparing to the film if there was one originally, see here for my Dirty Dancing review and rocky horror show review.
So to summarise this is a good show to take children to see. Worth a watch!
In October I’m looking forward to taking Monkey to see the very hungry caterpillar show which I will include on my blog!
Thank you for coming back!

Do you have any recommendations for shows to take kk and monkey or mummies treat night?

I’ve had the time of my Life

Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage. Full of passion and romance, heart-pounding music and sensationally sexy dancing, the record-breaking musical is even better than before in this all-new production.

The classic story of Baby and Johnny returns, following two blockbusters West End, runs and two hit UK Tours, featuring the hit songs Hungry EyesHey! BabyDo You Love Me? and the heart stopping (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life.

It’s the summer of 1963, and 17 year- old Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman is about to learn some major lessons in life as well as a thing or two about dancing. On holiday in New York’s Catskill Mountains with her older sister and parents, she shows little interest in the resort activities and instead discovers her own entertainment when she stumbles across an all-night dance party at the staff quarters. Mesmerised by the raunchy dance moves and the pounding rhythms, Baby can’t wait to be part of the scene, especially when she catches sight of Johnny Castle the resort dance instructor. Her life is about to change forever as she is thrown in at the deep end as Johnny’s leading lady both on-stage and off, two fiercely independent young spirits from different worlds come together in what will be the most challenging and triumphant summer of their lives.

I’ve had the time of my life! .The lyrics were ringing in my ears, as I think of Dirty Dancing and the want to being able to dance how Penny and Johnny’s dance entwined and in sync with one another.

Ah, I can Dream!

Dirty Dancing - Carlie Milner as 'Penny' & Lewis Griffiths as 'Johnny' - cAlastair Muir

I was able to get the fantastic opportunity to see this show to review for the blog.

It’s been a while since I had a night out with mum, and as it was her birthday I thought mum would be the best person to come and enjoy the show, and if she’s lucky enough a meal as well haha!

Once I picked up the tickets from the lovely Michelle, we were ready to be seated! And we were pleasantly surprised with the seat choice.

Like when we went to see The Rocky Horror show here.

Unfortunately, there was no photography allowed. So I wasn’t able to snap anything other than a cheeky selfie with mum and the neon stage light up!

Dirty Dancing Selfie

If you are anything like me and get hung up on non-original characters of films and shows, and how important it is that they bear a resemblance to the original actor.

Dirty Dancing - Ostend 1 Katie Hartland as 'Baby' and Lewis Griffith as 'Johnny' and ensemble (C)Dreamteam Pics

All I can say was I think the cast chosen were great! If you closed your eyes, it would be like you were listening to the originals.

I do also think the late Patrick Swayze would be happy with the choice of Johnny even though his hair was like Johnny Bravo hehe.

Dirty Dancing

There were some hilarious parts and wow I was amazed at how they managed the water scene that bit was something that I was thinking how will they do that!

But I didn’t need to worry it was fantastic! Well done to all production involved!

It was quite funny at that scene in the bedroom best part all the women in the audience were sat on the edge of their seat waiting for it to start, was quite funny.

Would recommend people to see this show I’d say a 4-star rating it was fantastic the stage and props moving choreography were well executed!

A rather enjoyable evening !!

Have you seen Dirty Dancing? If so what did you enjoy about it?
